Our Story

We were inspired to launch Malegría Coffee Roasters by our shared love of coffee, and by our family's rich coffee tradition which spans several generations and has roots in the lush, verdant, and fertile mountains of Quindío, Colombia.

Driven by a desire to build on this heritage, we have set out to craft exceptional coffee which honors not only our family's legacy, but the hard work, dedication, and knowledge of coffee farmers around the globe.

What is Malegría?

A combination of the Spanish words mal (bad; unpleasant) and alegría (joy; happiness), Malegría captures the idea that a meaningful and fulfilling life comes from recognizing that the highs and lows are part of a rich and authentic existence.
